Rating Scale: 10 being the highest
The first season of the
Rise of Empire is a set of six episodes about the Ottoman Empire. The
drama beautifully captures the imagination of the viewers and if you are a
student of history or even have a slightest interest in the subject you
are in for a treat. The story telling in the initial part of the season was a
little confusing but it got better after the actual story sets in however I
feel the writers could have done a better job at establishing the character
of Sultan Mehmed. Some viewers may find it difficult to map the evolution of
the character and its thinking especially when the narration describes him as
an extremely secretive while the viewer might have a slightly altered picture
of him from earlier episodes.
The production team has done wonders, photography is just
outstanding and continuation sequences makes it an amazing effort.. Turkey looks out of the
world even those who haven’t seen it can actually feel a connection with it.
The flow was alright but
to say that there is room for improvement is a fair comment, the series is aesthetically
pleasing overall and the direction team has more or less accomplished the
desired results.
The end could have been better it is really a run of the mill
ending and gives the impression that the director maybe was in a hurry to wrap
things up.
